RESTORE FELLOWSHIP WITH JESUS
The bible states “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” {Romans 3:23}. Some Christians recognize their sin(s) and succumb to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. They immediately ask God’s forgiveness. Then there are others who rebel against the Holy Spirit’s conviction and remain in their sin (s). It gets to the point where sin takes control of their heart and mind. It’s at this point the Christian start to feel he/she is not worthy and can’t reestablish fellowship with Jesus. Nothing can be so far from the truth. This is the word of God “Return, O backsliding children,” says the LORD; “for I am married to you” {Jeremiah 3:14}. You see God stands with open arms, waiting for us to make the first move. He said “I will never leave you nor forsake you” {Hebrews 13:5}. Backsliders can’t correct their sin (s) with their own strength. In order for Christians to restore fellowship with Jesus, they must come before the Lord with a sincere heart, confess their sin, ask forgiveness and repent.
PRAYER FOR RESTORING FELLOWSHIP (Recite this Prayer)
Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my disobedience, I acknowledge my disobedience, and my sin is always before me. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Please forgive me for my sin In the name of your Son Jesus Christ I pray, Amen. Source: Psalm 51 LIFE
APPLICATION : The more spiritual investment we put into our fellowship with God, the less chance we will ever backslide. This investment consists of spending time (daily) talking to God and being familiar with his Will, this comes from studying, understanding and being obedient to his Word.
